General Motor’s recently started the production of the Chevrolet Sonic which is considered as a small car and the replacement for its Chevy Aveo in its Orion Township plant.

The decision from General Motors came a short period after this vehicle made its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last January. Given this, Chevrolet will have the chance to offer a new vehicle model for new car finders in the form of the Sonic.

In addition to this, having the Sonic on its line-up would allow General Motors to place a model that will go head to head with other sub-compacts such as the Ford Fiesta. GM also hopes that the Sonic would become one of the most in-demand vehicles in their line-up since this would be the sub-compact car model that is built in the US.

Due to this, car finders are given the opportunity to include the Sonic as one of their options when they decide to purchase or finance a sub-compact car using some of the auto financing deals ...
... offered by lenders.

Given this, General Motors is willing to do its best to make sure that everything that affects the production of the Sonic will be pushed through smoothly. In fact, the Detroit-based plant will ramp-up slowly to make sure that all of the needed procedures are implemented.

With these preparations, the Sonic would probably reach the dealerships this fall and when this vehicle is offered for sale, the Sonic will become one of the first vehicles designed in South Korea. In addition to this, most of the components and parts of the Sonic would come from South Korea. These will just be imported to the US when the assembling plant starts to function in full-scale.

In addition to this, the engine that would be used for the Sonic is still sourced from Mexico. However, General Motors stated that the engines and the other parts would eventually be shifted to some of their North American suppliers and this will make the production of the Sonic easier.

As of the present, the Orion plant employs a total of 1,750 employees. These are the individuals that make up the work force that will eventually help GM in building low-margin cars in the US.
