The fact is, MK is much more than a herd of concrete cows! And all those much-maligned roundabouts actually keep the city’s traffic moving, making traffic jams things that only happen elsewhere. Much of the housing in MK is modern and more affordable than nearby London and unemployment is low. And then there’s the city centre complex with all its facilities such as shops, restaurants and entertainment, among which is a top Milton Keynes cinema.

Cineworld

One of the major built landmarks when you reach Milton Keynes centre is the Xscape building, one of a chain of three such leisure complexes (Glasgow and Wakefield making up the other two). The front metal-clad elevation soars skywards in an impressive ellipse containing 14 floors, and the building gradually slopes down towards the back. The reason for this is the indoor 170m ski slope, a popular venue especially with those practising for their winter holidays. Apart from a wide mixture of shops and eateries, the other major attraction here is the Cineworld Milton Keynes multiscreen cinema.

Marking the new millennium by opening its doors in 2000, ...
... Cineworld Milton Keynes boasts 10 screens showing a wide variety of films, including the latest releases, while keeping admission prices at a competitive level. There are various price deals for children, students, families and senior citizens, and you can opt for the VIP or Delux screens at an extra charge, which gives you access to a private bar and luxury seating. All a very long way indeed from the post-war flea pit cinemas that older customers will remember only too well! For corporate clients or those who just wish to splash out on a party, you can also arrange for venue hire to view private screenings or hire the auditoria for conference events.

Getting here could not be simpler, with the rail station ten minutes walk away, frequent buses passing by and plenty of parking spaces around the building, some of them free. Now, it’s not often that you can still find that benefit for the car traveller in a modern city centre! A further feature is that, like the rest of Milton Keynes, the Xscape complex is attractively landscaped with trees, shrubs and hard landscaping making it a genuine pleasure to visit.
