What is the first thing you think of when you think about any kind of motorbike? The chances are good that an image comes to mind of a traditional motorbike on the roads. But in truth there are lots more different types of bikes available, including pit bikes.

pit bikes are not designed for on road use however. They are designed for off road use more than anything else, in a variety of settings including tracks, fields and even back gardens in some cases. They can be made legal to ride on the road but they need to go through a process to make them legal, including having the tyres changed. They were originally created to use in the pits at various races, because they are quite nippy and quick to get around on. It was only sometime afterwards that they started to be used and enjoyed in their own right.

However if you were to change the make-up of a pit bike to be used in such a way it would be a shame – after all they are designed to be used off road in a variety of challenging situations. pit bikes ...
... are extremely popular and can be used by people of all ages once they are used to handling them.

The great thing about these bikes is that they don’t have to be hugely expensive. Obviously it depends on the model you buy; the more powerful and detailed it is, the more you will be able to get out of it. You can however buy a basic model for just a couple of hundred pounds. After that entry level price they go up to over a thousand pounds. Remember to check and see which pit bikes are ideal for which age person. Some are designed for kids to get on and use, while others are more serious bikes designed for competitions.

If you are interested in pit biking it is well worth finding out more about it. A lot of people get started enjoying pit bikes casually, and then move on to organised events. These are often held as competitions and they can be extremely competitive indeed.

Remember that this is a sport and so you will need all the appropriate safety gear when you buy your first pit bike. Buy everything at the same time if you can, so you are able to enjoy getting out and about on a track or piece of private land as soon as you get your bike.

The more you use your pit bike and get used to how it feels to ride, the more exciting you are likely to find it. You will certainly see how riders get addicted to the sport, because it really does give you a thrill. Start by choosing one of an incredible range of pit bikes around today, and enjoy the excitement of riding it for the first time.
