Avon Catalogs Are Exemplary

Perhaps everyone in the world knows or at least has heard about Avon. It is a very popular line of cosmetics that can be availed only through direct selling. Many women use it because compared to other brands; they are affordable and are actually of pretty good quality. These are sold directly through consumers by agents who bring along a simple, convenient yet powerful tool—the Avon catalogs. Avon invests so much in their catalog printing that is why their products sell very well.

Avon has a good marketing and pricing strategy. Many women are members here because they find direct selling lucrative. But there are also those who sign up for the program even if they are not selling only because they get discounts when they buy their favorite Avon products. Dealers or agents get about 20 to 30% discount plus freebies. So if you are an avid Avon user, it is better to go directly to the company, sign up for their program, and enjoy the benefits, even if you don’t sell.

So aside from the quality of their products, why do you think that Avon is successful? Here are some of the reasons.

... Their catalogs are prepared for printing months before their date of release. Each issue is thoroughly checked for errors because so much information is contained there.

2. Effective promos. When you open an Avon catalog, perhaps about 1/3 third of the first part contains only promos. They offer bundling discounts as well as freebies. Like for example, one of their promos would read, “Get the Far and Away lotion for only $1, if you have a minimum purchase of $10 from pages 2-10.” Or something like that. Many people just wait for their favorite items to go on sale before buying. Or they really run after the freebies because they are actually very nice

3. Celebrity endorsers. Avon spares no expense in their marketing. That is why they get celebrity endorsers to model their goods. They hire local and international talents to become the image models of their different lines. But they also have some unnamed models that they use regularly.

4. Diversification of business. Avon did not just continue with selling cosmetics. While their makeup continues to be their best seller, the company then pushed for the underwear line. For many years, Avon is carrying both cosmetics and undergarments in their catalogs. Eventually, they added the fashion jewelry line. Now they have bags, shoes, slippers, notebooks, wallets, umbrellas, and even house ware. Many people find their products interesting so they continue to patronize Avon. Now, the freebies are no longer just cosmetics. It is like shopping in a department store when you open an Avon catalog.

5. Innovations. Avon also continues to develop their products. They come up with new lines or they use new technology on old ones so everything looks fresh and impressive.

6. Packaging and labels. Avon invests so much on their packaging and label designs to their wares are very presentable. They are also nice gift items.

Avon’s catalog printing may be expensive but this is subsidized because agents do not get these for free. They buy the catalogs each month for a minimal fee. That is like their minimum capital or investment for selling Avon products.
