No More Shopping Temper Tantrums

Lots of energy and spunky personalities definitely describes my two young girls. Of course a three year old and a six year old are going to be rambunctious little bundles of bliss. Try taking the two girls out shopping. To be sure, easy is not the word to use to describe our shopping experiences. Usually something horrible and dire happens and it ruins the entire trip in some way. And don't even get me started about clothes and shoes shopping trips with them. Trying on anything before we buy them is something both of them object to. Since they are so uncooperative I tried to just go without them but that was harder still. It was truly a lost cause trying to extricate myself from my little angel's grasp. Online shopping struck me as potentially the best solution to my problem. When I placed my order I was able to use a Shoebuy coupon that I had had. Suddenly I could envision the light at the end of the tunnel. My girls each got a couple of pairs of shoes and so did I which was truly amazing since that never happens when we actually go out to go shopping. ... shoe sizes. If something were too small for my older girl, I could just put it up until the little one got big enough. Finally, a resolution to my shopping problem.

There were some times I wanted to just pull my hair out when I had to go shopping with my girls despite how hard I tried to stay calm. You've got to draw the line at some point, and for me it was the time my oldest decided to throw a pair of shoes all the way across the department store. That was completely unacceptable. What other options does a parent have though when something like that happens?

I still take them shopping because I think they need the social experience, but now I don't worry about trying to get them to try on things now. Once they are teenagers, I'm quite sure they will grow out of this behavior. Something inside of me says that when that happens, it's going to be quite an experience all by itself.

Until then, I will sit back comfortably drinking my coffee, watching them play in the backyard, as I prepare my next order. There are no more temper tantrums and the entire process is simple and inexpensive. My oldest daughter has even taken a liking to sitting with me on occasion and picking out what she wants.
