Even though Medicare, administered by the United States government, offers many benefits to those people who are 65 and older, it does not cover everything. Because of the rising cost of medical treatments and medications, many seniors can’t afford these additional services that Medicare does not cover. Normally in Medicare Insurance the maximum length of stay per ailment is 100 days with first 20 days covered fully and the remaining days requiring a co-payment.
# Part B, Medical Insurance:
This is the optional part of Medicare insurance plan and covers physician, nursing, x-ray, diagnostics, laboratory services along with influenza, pneumonia vaccinations, blood transfusions, ambulance transportation, organ transplant, chemotherapy and other outpatient treatments.
# Part C, Medicare Advantage plans
These are plans that give the beneficiary more than what is provided in the Part A, Part B and Part D of Medicare Insurance plans.
# Part D, Prescription Drug plans
To benefit of this plan the person must enroll into a stand-alone Prescription Drug Plan or a Medicare Advantage plan with prescription drug coverage. These plans are administered by private health insurance companies and contains the option to choose the kind of drugs the person wants.
The primary requirement for an individual to acquire a Medicare supplemental insurance plan is that they are enrolled in both part A and part B of the Medicare program.
