If a business is having trouble keeping up with payables, due to unpaid invoices, the process can take a significant toll on the cash flow of the business. Helping to reduce this impact is a primary goal of a factoring company, and factoring receivables is an effective way to close the gap between its bills and the cash available for the business to operate efficiently.

It is safe to say that many businesses need reliable cash-on-hand to pay the bills for running a business, but getting payment on outstanding invoices from customers can sometimes be difficult. Unfortunately, many companies make the mistake of trying to get payment on their accounts, on their own. In many cases, this sets the stage for getting caught up in credit actions and claims courts. Factoring receivables offers a seller's business more options and flexibility towards getting the cash it needs, in a timely manner.

Tracking down customers to get payment on their debts can be an unpleasant process. Customers may move or invoices may be lost in the mail, during the collection process. In order to best serve all of a seller's ...
... customers in a timely fashion, while making sure there is enough cash on hand to keep a business running smoothly, a more reliable system is needed. Receivables factoring agencies offer a viable solution for keeping accounts receivable collections up-to-date and essential cash in the seller's bank account. Factoring services allow business owners to get the money they need from their invoices quickly, without the hassle of tracking down customers concerning past-due invoices.

In most cases, a business needs to wait between 30-90 days before payment will be received on the services the seller has rendered to a customer. Even the invoicing process can be tedious, tying up valuable time. If a situation arises where the customer doesn't even receive the invoice, this can also lead to increased time between receipt of payment and the completion of the sale.

If there are a number of accounts where payment is not being made in a timely manner, then it is more than likely the case that there will not enough cash available to help the business grow. This limits the business' ability to pay its own bills on time and could result in not being able to pay suppliers or fill orders. This can lead to a cycle where bills are not being paid in order to generate the cash needed to fill new orders, and even more income is lost to the business, due to an inability to deliver products and services in a timely manner.

Factoring receivable financing offers an alternative form of business funding and can provide a business with the money it needs to continue with business operations and growth. By selling invoices to an accounts receivable funding company, a business can start to look forward to a faster-turnaround on all of its sales payments.

Factoring receivables can provide multiple benefits for companies of all sizes. Employees can be paid consistently, new products can be ordered and paid for with greater efficiency, and the business can expand because of its improved cash flow position. The factoring service provides access to money almost immediately that can be put directly into the company's bank account, so the company does not have to wait to be paid on invoices that will deliver payment for work that may have been provided months earlier.

Factoring agencies generally provide accounts receivable financing for distributors, manufacturers, service providers, and transportation companies. Factoring companies cater to a variety of businesses and can help to bring all accounts receivable accounts up-to-date, and they can provide the seller the resources it needs to continue to operate with an efficient cash flow process.

In most cases, receivable finance companies will provide the seller with between 80-90% of its invoices in cash upfront. The remainder is generally put into reserve and when the invoice is paid, a minimal discount fee is applied, with the remaining amount being paid back to the seller. The fees charged depend on the buyer's credit, the average size of an invoice, number of accounts, industry, and other factors. All factors are all evaluated and are accounted for within the minimal fee that is charged by the receivables financing company.

The ability of a business to maintain more reliable cash flow operations is just one benefit of working with a receivables factoring agency. Factoring virtually eliminates the need to manage collections and call customers in an attempt to get them to pay their bills. By including this intermediary, the seller will have more time and resources available to it for other business projects and activities. One of the greatest advantages of a factoring service is that the seller's business will never need to worry about whether the customer is paying his or her bills on time. While the factoring service charges a fee for the services they render, this cost can be minute in relation to the type of service you will receive with the use of this type of financial services company.
