If you have reason to run a bake sale, all you have to have is a table or two full of delicious snacks like muffins, lollipops, candy bars, and whatever else can please a sweet tooth. Whether you are raising funds to support a local school or charity, all it takes is a little kitchen know-how for when it comes time to bake your sweets and a bit of business sense for when it comes time to set up and start selling.

Like any clever business, there is nothing more important to your sale than your location, so when you host your sale you want to be somewhere with a large crowd of people. Schools have games, pep rallies, band recitals, and other activities that would be perfect places to set up a bake sale; and you could even find other events at other places throughout your community. Another place that a lot of people tend to do pretty well at is in front of the local department store, but you have to be sure and get permission from the owner first.

Also like any other business, you will do best to know your customers and understand the kinds of people you will be serving and what kind of treats they'll enjoy ...
... best. For example, if you are at a little league baseball game you could sell cookies that are shaped like baseballs for the kids and serve coffee for the adults. For cold winter days outdoors you could hardly go wrong selling cups of piping hot chocolate with fluffy marshmallows on top.

Coming up with what you are going to sell and where you are going to sell it is just the start of this endeavor, because now you have to gather all your goodies; which can prove to be rather expensive. People will only pay so much for a piece of candy or a cold drink, so you have to spend less to charge less and still make a decent profit in the end. If you are doing this on behalf of an organization, you should not hesitate to ask for donations that can go towards bulk bags of lollipops or boxes of brownie mix.

If you can manage to land yourself in a prime location full of sweet teeth and offer a variety of choice snacks and beverages, you should have no trouble earning a neat little profit for your cause. Raising funds can be done in a variety of ways, but a properly planned bake sale can be a lot of fun to host and just as effective as most anything else.
