Vishwakarma Matrimony: The Occasion For Lavish Celebrations

Vishwakarma is a mythical figure who designs fabulous flying chariots and weapons for gods. Vishwakarma or Vishvabrahmin is also the name given to the community made up of goldsmiths, blacksmiths, copper-smiths, carpenters and sculptors. The sub-divisions within the community are also based on the territorial markers. The Vishwakarma Matrimony is known for its exquisite lavishness and celebrations like all other Indian marriages. Like all communities, the vishwabrahmins also have got elaborate pre- marriage and post-marriage rituals. There are numerous matrimonial sites where the prospective couples can meet or families can search suitable partners for their sons and daughters.

Kanyadaan
The bride is brought in the basket to the wedding mandap. The couple should take care not to see each other during the wedding ceremony. Like all Hindu marriages, Vishwakarma matrimony also involves chanting Vedic mantras and pheras. After the conclusion of the marriage ceremony, the parents of the bride wash the groom's feet.
Mangalsutra Tying
It is also an important ritual when the groom ties the mangalsutra around the neck of the bride in the presence of the priest.
Kanya Daan Akshata
The couple will exchange garlands after tying the mangalsutra. The people present celebrate it by showering the couple with flowers petals and rice.
Saptapadi
This ritual is most quintessential of all Indian marriages no just Vishwakarma matrimony. The bride and the bride groom circle the fire seven times during this ceremony. After the ritual, the marriage ceremony is complete.
