Last night, I eagerly started reading The Law Of Success by Napoleon Hill. I was still in the first few pages when I came accross something really striking

It is the personalities back of a business which determine the measure of success the business will enjoy. Modify those personalities so they are more pleasing and more attractive to the patrons of the business and the business will thrive. - Napoleon Hill.

Hill also mentions somewhere else that people don't like doing business with corporations or institutions - they want to do business with people. And what is more, they want to do business with people whom they like. In other words, people with pleasing personalities.

It's not really rocket science now is it?

But just go and have a look at the majority of advertisements out there. Most companies want to push their corporate image at all costs.

And for what?

It only turns people off in the end. You're much better off taking a personal approach, and providing your customers with an image in their minds that there are people behind your company name or institution.

At the end ...
... of the day, in my view, it's all about relationships. If the people you want to do business with don't trust you, you simply don't have much of a chance to succeed. And what better way is there for becoming successful by building deep and meaningful relationships with your customers. It's almost like making a new friend every time you get a new customer. How exciting!

A quick example

A few weeks ago, I went to an Internet Marketing conference, where I accidentally met one of the greats in Internet Marketing, Mark Joyner - for those of you who dont know, he's considered the Godfather of Internet Marketing.

I didnt even recognise him, because he's changed somewhat from the picture that I got to know him by. To cut a long story short, Mark was the most approachable guy ever, and didn't mind having a bit of a yarn to me. In fact, he was so down to earth, that he even accepted to do an interview with me on The Psychology Of Success.

I was totally blown away by how nice he was. But now, everytime I see a product or service from Mark, I don't hesitate at all to invest in it. Of course, his products and services are of the highest quality, but it was the relationship that made me trust him and become his customer.

And it's the same for any other business.

That's all for today. The Law Of Success is really a fascinating book to read, even though it was written way back in 1928.

Talk soon!
