After I refused to go on the cocktail of drugs my doctor and cardiologist recommended, I began to research the subject of heart disease. One the main causes is blocked arteries.

My research was quite in depth and exhaustive. I learned that the devastating symptoms of heart disease don't usually start creating problems until the arteries in the heart are 70% closed or clogged. In other words the problem has begun long before you feel any symptoms at all.

That is why heart disease is often called the silent killer.

I went to the hospital and had the prescribed Angiogram. The procedure entails the passing of a small camera on the end of a wire up through your groin artery and directly into your heart. Dye is then pumped round your whole system and of course it shows up on the x-ray. The pictures show how blocked your arteries are.

I must admit I was a little scared when I realized that the cardiologist told me I had one artery in my heart that was yes you guessed it 70% blocked. My initial fears re-awakened as I realized once again I was taking full responsibility for my health. I had better be on the ...
... right track.

When your artery becomes 70% or more blocked the blood starts to get forced through the veins and other arteries and of course pressure builds up and causes pain and sets the scene for other problems. The blood doesn't have the room to pass through as it should and this is where the problems begin.

Clearly the key health problem here is arterial plaque build up. This is proved out because when you cleanse the plaque out of your arteries you are taking away the source and cause of your chest pain or Angina.

Unfortunately, arterial plaque begins to build up in the arteries at an early age (because of our unhealthy lifestyles even teenagers today are developing coronary heart disease). Plaque build-up steadily progresses throughout your life (depending upon your life style of course) which in time can and does, cause coronary heart disease.

As I have stated before it is the most common causes of death in North America and Europe claiming one life every 43 seconds (over 1 million annually just in the U.S.). The doctor tells you to lower your cholesterol and probably will want to put you on a Statin drug to help.

The purpose of the Statin is to lower your cholesterol when what you should really be doing is changing your eating habits and your lifestyle and doing something positive about getting rid of that plaque in your system and not taking a STATIN ........cont'd
