Has anyone had any experience taking Zoloft during pregnancy? When you're pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant, you are more easily to become depression. Leaving depression untreated can be dangerous- possibly raising your risk of preterm labor, premature delivery, and a lower-birthweight baby. But can you make sure that taking antidepressants is safe enough? Since recent years Zoloft side effects become very common.

Zoloft has been the subject of significant scrutiny recently because of an alleged connection between these medications and an increased risk of major birth injuries in infants who are exposed to the drugs during pregnancy. It is often recommended that women do not take antidepressants during pregnancy.

Zoloft is a pregnancy category C medicine, meaning that the medication could potentially cause harm to your unborn child. You'll need to weigh the potential risks of continuing the meds against the risks of stopping them. Or you or your baby may suffer Zoloft side effects such as birth defect, this is not alarmist. Anti depressants are not good to take during pregnancy as they can cause undiagnosed ...
... developmental neurological problems for the child, which can come out later in their lives as depression or psychological issues.

The most recent research analysis, published in 2006, showed that SSRIs are associated with a small increase in the risk of miscarriage. In other words, Zoloft should only be used during pregnancy if the possible benefits of the medication justify the potential risk to the fetus.

Zoloft has been associated with PPHN when taken during the last half of pregnancy; has been associated with septal heart defects; has been associated with omphalocele, these are all terrible Zoloft side effects. If you indeed need Zoloft for depression, consult your healthcare provider and get a referral to a counselor or psychiatrist on what is best for you and how to take Zoloft in a safe way.
