People with PTSD have persistent frightening thoughts and memories of their ordeal and feel emotionally numb, especially with people they were once close to. There are a number of treatments which form the basis of the care plan for those suffering with PTSD. Such treatments include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychotherapy and support from family and friends.
Social phobia, social anxiety disorder involves overwhelming worry and self-consciousness about everyday social situations. These fears cause such distress that some people go to extreme lengths to avoid what they fear. Common examples are public speaking, meeting people, or using public restrooms.
Because the anxiety disorders are a group of related conditions rather than a single disorder, they can look very different from person to person. Cognitive-behavioral therapy, relaxation techniques, and biofeedback to control muscle tension can also be helpful.
