The vastness of Indian railways is a proof and testimony of the myriad of jobs possibilities that is found for Indian citizens. This sector in itself is so large that many people can be accommodated in different job profiles in different sections. Starting from the engineering fields to some medical posts, every type of job is possible to be found in the railways sector.

The whole railways, is having a wide area of distribution with so many trains and many other activities going on simultaneously. Managing a large section of the society is not at all possible by the railways as a whole, as there would be coordination problems also. To make the process of railways recruitment easier, the whole railways has been divided into different zones. There are presently 19 different boards in different railway zones of the country that look after the railway recruitment board jobs of their respective areas.

About 20,000 recruitments are done roughly every year and this is a huge in terms of the numbers of people who get the jobs in the railway sector. There are different cadres for which the recruitment boards take out ...
... advertisements. Grade A is the executive gazetted officer class, grade D being the lowest cadre and consists of the daily labourer sections. The railways recruitment board ensures that these posts are filled up with the required set of people and carries out the different processes of recruitment.

The railways recruitment board jobs are published and then the required written and interview rounds are conducted. The final selection is done by the board. Separate advertisements are posted in the internet and the leading newspaper dailies for the different posts and cadres and the whole procedure is carried out entirely by the railway recruitment boards. With the vast expanse of the railways, the job done by the individual zonal recruitment boards is of a great benefit as it allows the process to be streamlined.

For the recruits, the process is of benefit as it allows the aspiring candidates to apply in their regional or local boards and the entire work is possible in the nearby city where the board is located. This means, the people are not required to travel to distant towns and cities for appearing in the interview or written exams. This kind of an arrangement is of a better liking of the non gazetted staff as they are able to find the jobs in the areas near their homes and don’t have to travel long distances for the railway recruitment board jobs. This particular class of recruits is actually a large part of the total number of jobs that are dealt by the boards.

The reasons for such a large number of people turning up for the jobs in the railways are based on good salaries, organized work, and other perks like leaves, overtime, pensions, etc. This makes so many people from the country to opt for the jobs which allows them a career in the Indian railways and hence a great opportunity to earn a good livelihood. Many families, around 1.6 million, are dependent on the railways for their living which is too high and significant in comparison to the other sectors. Under these circumstances of popularity and demand, the railway recruitment boards have to maintain a fine balance and are doing so with dedication for the citizens of India.
