Home Remedies For Pink Eye - Eliminate The Infection Naturally

Pink eye is actually a term used for conjunctivitis, an inflammation of the eye which can have viral or bacterial causes. The main symptoms include pain, itching and tearing and they can be reduced using home remedies for pink eye. These remedies also have properties which enable them to eliminate the infection. Compresses with warm milk are helpful because they provide relief from the symptoms of pink or red eye. You can also use the warm milk as an eye wash.

One of the most known and used home remedies for pink eye is chamomile. Prepare an infusion by adding a teaspoon of dried chamomile flowers to a cup of boiling water. Before using it, steep it for approximately 10 minutes, strain it and let it cool of. Depending on how you find it easier, you can use the infusion for washing your affected eye with it or as a compress. If you don't have dried chamomile flowers, apply used chamomile tea bags on your eyes and keep them there for 15 minutes.

A very effective eye wash can be made of baking soda. Put one teaspoon of baking soda in two cups of water and use the solution on regular basis until you are cured.

Potatoes have astringent properties and many people use them as home remedies for pink eye. Put a fresh potato slice on your eyes in order to reduce the inflammation. You can also use a poultice made of potatoes. Results will be visible after using it for at least three consecutive days.

Aloe vera is one of the most effective home remedies for pink eye. Its antibacterial properties have already proven their efficacy in all sorts of diseases. You can use aloe vera juice as eye wash or you can apply compresses soaked in it.
