Mastitis is a condition which usually affects pregnant women. It is recommended not to interrupt breastfeeding while having mastitis. Many women choose home remedies for mastitis in order to cure the condition and to alleviate their pain and inflammation. Cabbage leaves are widely used because their properties provide relief from the infection in a day or two. Fresh cabbage leaves should be applied on the breast for several hours daily. Use the bra to keep them in place and change them if they warm up. Cabbage leaves are very effective if they are used in the early stages of mastitis, when you noticed the clogged milk duct, before the infection sets.

Most of the home remedies for mastitis have to be applied locally. Calendula cream is very good in mastitis. It has healing properties if it is applied on the affected area and it is also good to be combined with calendula tea taken internally.

Compresses with dandelion root are good home remedies for mastitis. Prepare a tea from one ounce of dandelion root and a couple of water cups. Boil them until the quantity of water reduces with half. Let the tea cool off and ...
... then soak a clean cloth in it and apply the compress on your breast. This will reduce the infection and it will also diminish the pain.

Some women have also managed to cure mastitis with white vinegar. Add a teaspoon of white vinegar to one cup of water and primarily use it to soak your nipples in it for several minutes. Once you have done this, pour the water on your breast and stay like this until it dries. Make sure to wash it off before breastfeeding again. White vinegar is one of the best home remedies for mastitis.

Not all home remedies for mastitis have to be used externally. Some of them also help if they are consumed. This is for instance the case with garlic. This is a powerful enemy of all sorts of infections and swallowing a few cloves every day will help the body fight the infection from inside. Garlic and orange juice consumed simultaneous are also helpful in mastitis.

Rosemary is also one of the home remedies for mastitis that has to be consumed. Prepare an infusion of 3-4 teaspoons of rosemary and a cup of water. Let it steep for ten minutes and then consume it because it will eliminate the infection from your body.
