Brush

You should also replace your toothbrush after illnesses such as colds, flu, strep throat and stomach viruses. ... dental floss or an interdentally cleaner even if you brush regularly. Toothbrush bristles can't reach between teeth where bacteria can linger, causing decay and gum disease. Regular flossing can remove the food particles and plaque from between teeth and under the gum line .

Diet

A balanced diet that includes fresh fruits and vegetables can help you maintain good oral health. Limit junk foods and sugary foods, substituting healthy snack choices instead. Dairy products and certain vegetables, such as broccoli, are good sources of calcium. Citrus fruits are good sources of vitamin C which is good for promoting tissue building and overall general health.

Dentist

You should visit your dentist regularly for oral exams and professional teeth cleaning. Sometimes your dentist may suggest another schedule. You will find that your dentist can recommend what types of oral care products to use.

Most people do not know that within just twenty minutes of eating, plaque begins to accumultate on your teeth.

Healthy teeth have few, if any, cavities. They are clean and flossed regularly. Healthy gums are firm and pink. They do not bleed, are not sore and are not drawn back from the teeth. By following the recommendations listed above, you can maintain good oral hygiene as well as proper teeth and gum care. These actions will result in better overall health.
