When we think of skin care often times we think of going to the store or to the spa to purchase creams and oils to help our skin look more healthy and radiant. What we tend to forget about is the natural ways to help the skin. Creams and oils are great, but they're not the only answer. Here are some natural ways to help your skin look more healthy and glowing.
Exfoliation
There is a way to exfoliate your skin other than using the cream. This way is called the dry brush exfoliation. With this you're using a soft dry skin brush to brush the skin gently. Doing this serves several purposes that are very beneficial to the skin. First, it helps to get rid of all the dry skin cells that have accumulated overnight. Next, it helps to improve your blood circulation. Finally, brushing the skin is known to have a calming effect on the body. Not only are the benefits great but it's simple to do.
While standing in the shower with the water off, begin brushing the skin in a circular motion moving toward your heart. Remember you're brushing softly applying a little pressure but not much. Make sure to avoid any open skin ...
... or rashes. You'd also want to avoid your face and inner thigh areas because the skin is very thin there.
Once you've finished both of your legs, next you should move to your arms. Remember you always brush going toward the heart. So, you'd start at your fingertips and brush up the arm.
After that's done then you're ready to brush from your back to your stomach. The only thing left to do is to shower.

Digestion
Good skin is often the result of a good digestion system. People with skin disorders often time suffer from constipation and other digestive conditions. Two common causes of a poor digestive system is lack of water and lack of protein.

Water- Water serves two main purposes in our body. It bathes the cells and it eliminates waste which helps to prevent constipation. When drinking water try to drink filtered water. Sometimes the water is contaminated with chloride and other impurities. Do not drink too much distilled water because it can deplete some needed minerals from your body. Also, you should drink water at room temperature. Cold water tends to shock the body and it has a way of disrupting the flow of energy in the body.

Fiber- For most people fiber is one ingredient they lack in their daily intake. Women between the ages 19 to 50 should get 25g a day. Women over 50 only need 21g a day. Men between the ages 19 to 50 need 38g of fiber a day. Men over 50 need 31g a day.

There are ways to add fiber to your diet. You can eat:
an apple
whole grain foods
cauliflower
high fiber snacks
beans and legumes

Avoid too much sugar
Believe it or not but one of the main causes of premature aging is linked to too much sugar consumption. We know that the more sugar we eat, the more sugar that's entering our bloodstream. Over a period of time this could cause glycation. This is when a glucose molecule sticks to a protein molecule and causes damage. Once this happens a new molecule is formed called advanced glycation. Advanced Glycation is known for damaging the collagen in the skin. It also causes the skin to lose its elasticity. Without the elasticity the skin begins to sag and form wrinkles.

Eat good fats
When we think of fats we usually think of nasty greasy stuff that's bad for the body. This isn't the only fat, there is such a thing as good fat called essential fatty acids. This is the fat your body needs, it can't live without it. This fat has been known to help keep your heart healthy and to fight off cancer. Here are a few ways to ensure you're getting your essential fatty acids. You should try eating:

Cold water fish like tuna and salmon
Flaxseed and walnut oil
Fish oil vitamins

Being that the skin is the largest part of our body, we should go out of our way to take good care of it. Buying skin care products is necessary, but it's not the only way to take care of your skin. Don't forget the natural ways you can help slow down the aging process and keep your skin looking great.
