Are you going to hold a party for the birthday of your husband or any other adult relative or colleague? Or you have pajama-themed birthday party? Why not give away custom door hangers as souvenirs? Door hangers are unique and easy to produce, especially if you want them handmade. But if not, you can go to door hanger printing sites online and see their many templates that you can use or even customized. They are reasonably priced, too.

But do you know that you can actually do this yourself? With a colored printer and some crafts materials, you can have these unique and personalized giveaways.

Basically, you will need stock card, a colored printer, a paper cutter and a circle cutter to make holes. But of course, to improve its appearance and make it two- or three-dimensional, you would need embellishments similar to those that are used for scrapbooks.

... want, you can make a layout in the size of short bond paper and just divide it in half. That way, it is easier for you to print your design because you are using a standard size paper.

Use a desktop publishing software like Corel Draw or Adobe Photoshop for this purpose. Make a circle of about 3 inches in diameter and position it near the top of the layout. Leave this space alone and start your design about half an inch under it. You can choose to put a solid color background for your design because the stock card is white. Or you can find a nice background template from the net and paste it on your design. Choose one that fits the theme of your party.

Insert graphics that are related to the theme of the party. You may opt to only have one side printing, but you can also utilize the back portion. You can make the door hanger practical and usable by putting a message like “Baby Inside Room” or “Do Not Disturb.” Or you can also put a naughty quote there that best describes the birthday celebrator. Your guests will really find this funny and will appreciate this item. And since it is usable, they will surely put it on their bedroom door knob when they go home.

Print your layout on the stock card. Punch the hole using a circle cutter. You can already give these out as they are or you can wrap them in plastic for better presentation. Or you may opt to further embellish your door hangers with rubber flowers, ribbons, sequins, buttons, silver dust, and the like. You get the idea. These are all available at your local crafts or school supplies store. Make them assorted so that no two designs are the same.

Custom door hangers are fun and useful. They need not be made by door hanger printing shops. You can actually do it yourself at home. But they are sure going to be appreciated by your guests. So next time you have a party, consider giving away door hangers.
