What Is Stress?
What is stress? Stress is a way of life for many people, that anxious exhaustion that can be triggered by numerous things, sometimes positive, but sometimes negative. In fact, people respond to stress in varied ways with effects not only touching them, but even their environment. That is why this stress overview is going to help you understand where stress might originate from, what are the common sources, the manifestation of stress, and the side effects that we all experience from stress both physically and mentally.
Stress comes from many sources such as your environment, personal expectations, interesting difficulties that you are having, your immediate home, lifestyle situations, problems, a relationships and/or your work place. However, with life being so busy and pressures of keeping up with multiple tasks, many people are unable to avoid excessive stress, viewing it as a bad thing even though many stresses are much more positive, even potentially neutral in nature. Quite often, stress begins as a manifestation that we create in thoughts, fears that take over our lives to the point where we fret over events and ...
... potential ifs that may never be realized.
Internal stresses define how we live our lives, handle any issues along the way, and if we will suffer illness due to the psychomatic side of stress.Such stress can prevent us from sleeping, cause us to eat too much or not enough and even make it hard for us to wind down. However, it might not seem that human beings, you and I, are amongst the best at handling stresses compared to any other animal in the animal kingdom. We have evolved to cope and thus sometimes we need to be reminded how to cope and what warning signs to look for if we appear to be lacking that coping mechanism.
So, what parts of us are affected most by stress? Stress can be damaging; there is no doubt as it challenges the endurance of our minds, nerves, reproductive systems, joints, pancreases, muscles, intestines, hearts and stomachs. The brain, of course, was built with a nerve center, the neo-cortex, which manages the daily stresses that we face, whether as our kids raise havoc in our homes, our partners play on our emotions or our work environments risk our very lives, our brain copes with so much, but eventually even it and the body it supports will break down.
As you can clearly see from this stress overview, stress is not a thing to laugh at. It can come from anywhere and anything, attacking you in your home or work. Stress is a constant and regular part of life as long as it does not get out of hand. Stress is a killer and that is no joke, even if a very slow one. Most importantly, stress is experienced by anyone of any age, young or old; it does not matter. As such, it is essential if you are suffering from detrimental and on-going negative stress to get help to manage your stress before your stress begins to manage you!
