Although the British government actively pushed forward the policy of admitting more financially strapped students into universities, several well-known universities like Oxford and Cambridge still enroll the same number of students from China.

According to the documents provided by Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), Oxford enroll 54.7% of national college students in the 2008-2009 academic year while 54.3% in the 2009-2010 academic year.

In the 2009-2010 school year, 59.3% of Cambridge’s full-time new undergraduates are national students.

Oxford shows that there is an increase of national students in the university in the 2010-2011 academic year.

Meanwhile, a large number of England universities including Oxford and Cambridge have announced that they will collect 9,000-pound tuition from 2012.

After detailed statistic analysis, HESA has set a goal of proportion of non-private school students for Oxford and Cambridge accordingly.

The target of Oxford is 67.3% full-time new undergraduates from national schools, while the target of Cambridge is 68.1%.
