Keeping And Extending Your Gains From Yoga Classes

Yoga sessions result in feelings of peace and often a change in mindset. However, sometimes we lose this state quickly. What can be done to maintain it? First of all, if possible don't plan something stressful for your activity following your yoga classs. This isn't always possible because sometimes we try to squeeze it in before work or a high pressured university class.

When leaving the class, savor the new energy and try to really be conscious of how you are feeling. This helps the body remember this state and get accustomed to and to question the states of mind we fall into full of racing thoughts and anxiety. Continue to keep your breathing nice and slow as you leave the class.

If possible, avoid jumping right into cell phone calls and just continue the slow breathing in the car. The longer you can sustain this relaxed state the more of a habit it will create in your body and mind.

If there was a certain line or two that spoke to you during the class, write it down. This can be a good reminder during the day. Keep it in your car or pocketbook to look it and to help when you are in a stressful situation. ...

Another way to maintain the gains from yoga is to do some standing stretches during the day. The warrior pose is one that helps create energy and a sense of determination. Bending at the waist and letting the body hang forward is a way to help the spine to stretch out and relax tension that develops during sitting. Rolling the shoulders helps to remove accumulated stress in the neck and shoulder areas.

During the day remember what you feel gratitude for having in your life. It is a challenge to do this when it seems that nothing is working out, but it helps to change the perspective. Utilizing both body and mind techniques help the yoga session benefits last longer and be carried into multiple situations.
