Visiting Biscayne National Park In Southern Florida
Located in South Florida, Biscayne Bay is a 200,000 underwater park. Fresh water flows from the mainland and mixes with the ocean's salt water, creating a unique breeding ground that is home to numerous plants and animals. Here, visitors can explore the bay by kayaking, snorkeling and scuba diving while spending nights at some of the nearby Biscayne Bay hotels.

The nearest city to the north is Miami, which is where most of the Biscayne National Park hotels are located. The nearest southern city is Key Largo.
Entry into the Bay is free and it's open year-round, although the visitor's center is closed on Christmas day. Public transportation is not available directly to Biscayne Bay, but individuals with their own car or a boat can enter easily. Parts of Biscayne Bay have glass bottom boat trips, so you can relax on board and watch as the sea floor expands beneath you, revealing a whole new world. You can canoe along the mangrove forest, watching for manatees, who like the shallow waters. Boating is one of the most popular activities, since it's a water park. On two of the Keys, Boca Chita and Elliott, guests can park. Some trails are also available, where the park isn't covered with water.
