The National Insurance Crime Bureau has recently announced that the number of incidents of car theft in the US has reached its lowest levels in 2010. This simply means that fewer cars are stolen by car thieves and other lawless elements from their rightful owners. The bureau has also identified some of the reasons why the number of car theft cases has decreased these past years. Among the most significant reasons that they have identified includes the increased efforts of most law enforcement agencies to control these activities and the widespread installation of security devices on vehicles that are sold to most car finders.

According to the statistics obtained by the bureau, the number of car theft cases in 2010 has significantly reduced compared to the total number of incidents in 2009. The number of stolen cars last year has reached to about 737,404 units which is quite high. However, this figure signifies a 7.2 percent improvement compared to the number of cars stolen in 2009 which amounted to about 794, 616 units.

Based on this statistics, the bureau has also ...
... identified Dallas as one of the cities which earned the greatest improvement in reducing the number of car theft incidents. The number on incidents has reduced to about 14.5 percent and this reduction was probably due to the city’s adoption of the bait programs or a strategy that lures thieves to steal unlocked cars with keys on their ignitions just to be apprehended by police authorities stationed around the area where the vehicle is fired.

Despite this report, car experts still recommend that new car finders should choose vehicles with impressive security mechanisms when they look for cars that they can purchase either on cash basis or by using some of the available auto financing deals so as to ensure that these would not be stolen.

In addition to this, car experts are also encouraging existing and upcoming car owners to invest on their cars’ security functions. They could actually purchase advance gadgets and other operating system that could deter or prevent car thieves from stealing their vehicles. Getting these security devices is no longer an issue since there are many of these that are available on the market.
