Domain Administrator For Contoso Pharmaceuticals
You are a computer consultant for Margie Shoop, the owner of Margie's Travel.Margie has a single Active Directory domain MCSE Certifications structure named margiestravel.com. Margie has travel agencies worldwide, at 50 locations in seven
countries. All locations are connected to a satellite array. Margie has signed a ten-year contract to provide satellite access to her 500 locations.
Connectivity to the satellite array varies between 57 Kbps to 128 Kbps. Although each of her locations varies greatly in(a 220-701) the number of computer
and user accounts, locations with more than 15 users have their own domain control?ler, global catalog server, and DNS server (typically configured on the
same computer). There are nine total sites in the margiestravel.com Active Directory infrastructure.
You are a domain administrator for Contoso Pharmaceuticals. You've noticed that one of your domain controllers is starting to run low on hard disk space. You
remove all unnecessary applications and services from the server. You plan to install a couple of additional ...
... hard disks in the system as soon as possible.
Right now, you just want to clean up as much space as possible on that server, until the new hard disks arrive. You decide to perform an offline compaction
of the Active Directory database. This should reduce the size of Active mcitp server administrator Directory on the
hard disk and increase the performance of Active Directory.
Before you perform an offline compaction of the Active Directory database on a production server, be sure that you have a current backup of the database.
A performance object is a logical collection of performance counters that is associated with a resource or service that can be monitored. A performance
counter is a value associated with a performance object. To monitor Active Directory, you monitor the activity of the NTDS performance object.
The Performance Logs And Alerts snap-in provides you with the ability to create counter logs, trace logs, and system alerts automatically from local or
remote computers.
Counter logs record sampled data about hardware resources and system services based on performance objects and counters. You can view logged counter data
using System Monitor or export the data to a file for analysis and report generation.
Trace logs collect event traces that measure performance statistics associated with events such as disk and file I/O, page faults, and thread activity.
To troubleshoot problems indicated by error and warning messages in the direc?tory service log, examine details about the message by double-clicking the
error or warning message.
An alert detects when a predefined counter value rises above or falls below the configured threshold and notifies a user by means of the Messenger service.
Alerts enable you to define a counter value that triggers actions such as sending a network message, running mcsa exams program, making an entry in the application log, or starting a log.
