The Hindu matrimony is a lavish and prolonged affair involving friends, relatives and family with lots of festivities, joy and fervor. Both the bride and the groom are adorned with beautiful attires and ornaments. Traditional Hindu ceremonies can last up to number of days. The rituals are generally performed in Sanskrit. The wedding is ideally supposed to be performed under a canopy like thing called the Mandap. The bride and the groom have to take seven rounds called the Saat Pheras which bind them together for not only this life but for seven lives. In Hindu Matrimony, one of the most important ceremonies that hold a lot of sentimental value for the girl’s family is that of Bidai. During this ceremony the girl is handed over to the groom with a lot of belief and expectations. There is an unspoken bond between the girl’s family and the groom that he will take good care of their daughter all his life. Hindus consider marriage as a sacred relationship, an unbreakable bond for life. Commitment, trust and love are the crux of Hindu Matrimony.

In Hindus, marriages hold a lot of significance in everybody’s life. It adds a new dimension to any person’s lifestyle.’ We’ replaces the term ‘I’ after marriage. It’s the culmination of two bodies and souls. There might be ups and downs but the beauty of marriage is overcoming those hurdles and living with your life partner. It’s a lifelong commitment between two people which they nurture with a lot of trust, understanding and love for one another. Hindu marriages are an epitome of an unbreakable bond between two people and two families. It’s a beautiful bond which one should try and cherish lifelong. The key to any marriage is love and trust.
