Attackers Target Japanese Game Developer
Game developers have been one of the major targets of cyber-attackers. Recently, Sega Corporation, a Japanese Game developer suffered cyber-attack resulting in unauthorized access to customer databases. Attackers were reportedly successful in extracting names, date of births, e-mail addresses, and encrypted passwords of online network members. The latest data breach affects around 1.3 million customers of the game developer. While preliminary investigations have not revealed any breach of financial information such as credit card information, Sega has disabled the website as a precautionary measure. Sega is the latest victim of the continuous tirade of cyber-attacks, which have affected other game makers and game sites such as Sony PSN, Nintendo, and Codemasters. The company has started notifying its customers.
