Common Constraints To Realizing One's Full Potential
It occurs every time the Olympics comes around. I'm often pleasantly surprised at what humankind can realize, whenever I watch a particularly impressive footrace, high dive, or speed skating lap. Observing another man or woman accomplish something astonishing is, in itself, astonishing. And it doesn't have to be limited to the Olympic Games. There are average people, like you and me, doing the extraordinary - in business, sports, music and the kinds of things found in the Guinness World Records.
Feats of man are a direct result of the efforts someone puts into something. While performance itself is only an abstract concept, it needs measurable events or actions. Usually, the three stages to accomplishment are: establishing an aim, carrying out the accomplishment rooted on specific principles, and then recording the accomplishment.
Humankind's possibility is definitely intertwined with humankind's achievement, the quantification of outcomes. Every year, there are individuals that surpass the record-shattering performances of their predecessors - why is this? Applied science has been a factor; for example, ...
... the tennis racquet has been engineered over time to produce better results. Discounting technical innovation, humankind's achievements have also multiplied through the eras. I believe a large attribute to this is the simple motivation of focusing on a goal, like beating the most recent world record, and bettering technique, skill, and focus until that goal is achieved.
Humankind's capability isn't constrained by anything in particular, and is strictly demarcated by an individual's desire to succeed and her inherent aptitude. Every individual has promise deep within them, that may be made real to fluctuating amounts. This promise is available to everybody, but only the folks who overcome their restrictions will be able to realize their promise.
Limits imposed by ourselves are the typical sort of limits that prohibit us from achieving what we could otherwise do. Such constraints are generally grounded on that person's mentality. I feel that if someone can get beyond these restraints, they will be much more likely to be able to fulfill their promise. I recently heard of an excellent program that explores human potential, and helps individuals better their performance in all areas of life through measurement and strategy. It is called Executive Success Programs, and there are training sessions held in a lot of cities in North America. One of my buddies told me that after putting into practice some stratagems he was taught during the class, he could further fulfill his promise and be a better professional, as well as a dad to his kids.
