Red Flags When Looking For Someone To Work On Your Pipes
Having trouble with the pipes in your house or your office can be exceptionally frustrating. When you are looking for someone to come into your home or your office to fix your pipes, it can also be a frustrating process.
Hiring anyone to fix a problem in your home or your office can come with a certain degree of difficulty. How do you know if you’re finding someone who can be trusted to do a good job and to charge you a fair price for the work that they are doing?
If you have an emergency with your pipes at home or in the office, you usually don’t have very much time to find someone reliable, so here are some things to look for when finding someone to repair water problems in your house or office.
Red Flag #1: The person or company that you call is going to charge you by the hour for the work in your home or your office building, but will not provide you with an estimate how much time it is going to take to complete the repairs. Most technicians are going to charge you by the hour. That’s a standard practice in the industry. But be very careful with a company ...
... or technician that won’t give you an estimate of how much time they are going to need.
Red Flag #2: The individual who answers your phone call or shows up at your door will not give you a written contract. Even if it’s a small repair job, you need to have in writing what work you are expecting them to perform and what you are expecting to pay.
Red Flag #3: You ask to see documents about their licensing or certification and they can’t, or are unwilling to provide them. Working with companies or individuals that are certified and licensed to be working in your area is very important. If you work with someone who isn’t licensed or certified to be working on your pipes in your city, you could have no recourse if something should go wrong. You also have a good chance that they won’t have insurance to cover any mistakes that they make.
Red Flag #4: You have trouble getting in touch with a specific company or individual to do work in your home or office. If you don’t receive a prompt reply back from the person you are hiring, consider looking for another Utah plumbing contractor.
