Nissan Will Stop Selling The Altima Hybrid
Nissan has recently made an announcement which caught car buyers and experts by surprise. This is because Nissan has decided to stop selling the Altima Hybrid by the end of 2011. This decision was quite surprising since the Altima Hybrid is Nissan’s only hybrid model that runs both gasoline and electricity. This simply means that stopping the production and selling of this hybrid as well as some of the auto financing deals offered to finance this model would leave Nissan with no hybrid model in the market.
Car experts have been also wondering about the reasons for the halting of the Altima Hybrid’s distribution since this model had been very attractive to car finders since its first introduction. Statistics shows that Nissan was able to sell about 35,000 units of the Altima Hybrid since 2007 and this figure is a not that bad for a model that has been on the market for almost four years now. Given this, most observers and new car finders are currently looking ...
... for the company’s future plants for this hybrid model.
As a result of the uncertainties surrounding this issue, most car experts are trying to trace the Altima Hybrid’s history to search for clues and determine what Nissan would possibly do to its current hybrid vehicle technology and these researches brought a lot of speculations.
One of this is the possibility that Nissan might be releasing a new hybrid car model that would be sold in greater quantities and this might use the company’s in-house hybrid drive system. It is quite obvious that the Altima Hybrid is using Toyota’s hybrid drive system and Nissan has been buying this system from its rival since the Altima Hybrid was offered for sale. However, Nisaan was able to produce their own hybrid system and this might be used for their future hybrid car models instead of using the one that they are getting from Toyota.
However, Nissan has not yet announced the company’s objective for killing the Altima Hybrid’s production as well as the details whether the production stoppage would be permanent or not. Given these, car buyers and automotive observers are left without any option but to wait for Nissan’s future announcements regarding this issue.
