The Cisco Catalyst 7600 Series Supervisor Engine 720 6500 is a breed of
Supervisor Engine designed to provide scalable performance and rich set of IP
settings on the hardware. Its feature set enables applications such as
traditional hardware-based IP routing, Layer 2 and Layer 3 Multiprotocol Label
Switching (MPLS) VPN Ethernet over MPLS with Quality of Service and security
settings. The Supervisor Engine 720 integrates a high performance 720 Gbps
crossbar switch fabric with a motor drive in one module, offering 40 Gb / s
switching adeptness per unit (for 4-10GE ports and 48 10/100 / 1000 density line
cards). With hardware-enabled forwarding for IPv4, IPv6 and MPLS, the embodiment
of the system is capable of 400 Mpps for IPv4, 200 Mpps for IPv6 traffic, with
features and 1024 LIF each population with more than 700 routes / VRF for MPLS.
The Supervisor Engine 720 builds on the proven Cisco Express Forwarding
architecture, supporting centralized transmission and distributed by the
transmission. Variants PFC3 analyze the various ...
... Supervisor 720 families of
engines. There are three variants PFC3A, PFC3B PFC3BXL match and WS-Sup720,
WS-Sup720-3B and WS-Sup720-3BXL. The Supervisor Engine 720 race is supported by
both operating systems-Cisco Catalyst OS and Cisco IOS. The MSFC3 is an integral
part of the Supervisor Engine 720, which provides high performance, multilayer
switching and routing intelligence, with a high performance processor, the MSFC
runs layer 2 protocols on one CPU and layer 3 protocols on the other processor.
They allow the routing protocol support, layer 2 protocols (Spanning Tree
Protocol and VLAN Trunking Protocol for example), and security services.
The MSFC builds the Cisco Express Forwarding Information Base table in software
downloads, and then the table for the hardware application-specific integrated
circuits in PFC3 and distributed forwarding engine making decisions for IP
unicast transmission and multicast traffic. The Supervisor Engine 720 PFC3
configuration, which takes into account a greater understanding of complex ASICs
strengthen an amount based on the hardware configuration. The PFC3 supports
routing and bridges, QoS, multicast packets and reduplication, and processes
security policies such as access control lists (ACL). The Supervisor Engine 720
is an expanding field Card3 entity. The PFC3 taken into account with a complex
high performance ASIC strengthen an amount based on the hardware configuration.
The PFC3 supports IPv4, IPv6 routing and bridging functionality, quality of
service and multicast forwarded and ACL-based policies.

VS-S720-10G-3CXL supervisor engine offer a scalable, integrated into the
fabric construction, user-based rate limiting to control up to 64 interest
rates, the rate-limiting pro-flow or aggregate form, security enhancements, and
MPLS wire rate and IPv6 hardware. This section is also a Cisco 6500 Series
Virtual Switching Supervisor 720 with 10GE uplinks functional completeness.
Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Virtual Switching Supervisor Engine 720 and 10
Gigabit Ethernet uplinks and IPv6 in hardware is an industry first. The new
supervisor engine combines high-density, virtualization system and was
supplemented by a scalable throughput results and advanced IP. This instructor
is a key factor in the Cisco VSS 1440 Virtual Switching System and enables high
efficiency, dexterity, and the action was complemented by a sharing of bandwidth
adeptness.
Cisco Virtual Switching Supervisor Engine 720 and 10 Gigabit
Ethernet uplinks is a new forwarding engine that combines all the features of
its predecessor, the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Supervisor Engine 720,
virtualization system throughput and expanded. Although the new legislation, the
Cisco Virtual Switching Supervisor Engine 720 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet uplinks
will also continue to provide investment services to protect customers,
strengthening each of the three-generation Cisco Catalyst 6500 series interfaces
and service modules . In addition, the Cisco Virtual Switching Supervisor Engine
720 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet uplinks will continue to offer hardware-based
capabilities that allow applications such as traditional IP forwarding, Layer 2
and Layer 3 Multiprotocol Label Switching VPN, and Ethernet over MPLS, and the
quality of service and security configuration.
Cisco Virtual Switching Supervisor Engine 720 with 10
Gigabit Ethernet uplinks shows versatility and ability to meet needs in areas of
the network with its hardware capabilities and support and a mix of Gigabit
Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet. The supervisor engine can be used in a wide
range of applications including: enterprise backbone (core / distribution), and
data centers: Cisco Virtual Switching Supervisor Engine 720 with 10 Gigabit
Ethernet uplinks offers high density uplinks, system virtualization, enhanced
security, rich QoS and scalable victory for Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit
Ethernet, making it ideal for business applications and distribution and data
centers.
Campus Access, WAN, and Metro Ethernet from Virtual Switching
Supervisor Engine 720 and 10 Gigabit Ethernet uplinks offers a powerful set of
security configuration. System security has been hardened to support the
assembly, such as one-touch AutoSecure, the price of the CPU that limits
multipath Unicast Reverse Path Forwarding, and numerous extensions to 802.1x.
wide range of features hardware-based mechanisms to support QoS, hardware-based
Generic Route Encapsulation tunneling, and access control lists enable customers
to build very successful campus networks, metropolitan area, and the combination
of different WAN EDGE networks.
