There was a time when much web designing was done with the help of table. Those days and that technology are now past and new technology has taken over. Earlier people used to think that table is one of the best ways to get their message conveyed to the receiver or targeted audience. Now the speed and technology of the internet has changed the situation. The time has changed to such an extent that tables are now being discouraged. Some of the prominent reasons for this trend are as follows.

- Purpose
The tables evolved for the purpose of presenting the data in a simple and easy way. The tables were never designed for designing the websites. The purpose of the tables has never been to present the information on the internet in the form of a website.

- Speed of downloading
When tables are the basis of web designing, the speed of downloading the website get drastically reduced. This prolongs the time of the website getting displayed on your monitor or the screen of the mobile device. - Limitations
When you use the tables for web design the limitations come into play. The creativity of the designer cannot be expressed fully because the tables restrict it. - Coding
A table based website needs the web designer to use a lot of coding. If something goes wrong at coding then the web design could go wrong at presenting the information on the screen. So the web designer needs to be extra careful while coding for tables. It becomes very tedious to change the coding in this situation especially when the coding is long and there is a mistake or something has to be added in the table.

- Latest technology and CSS
In comparison to the table the latest technology especially the cascading style sheets (CSS) seem to be miles ahead. With the help of CSS one can easily edit and update the website. The downloading time is drastically reduced when CSS is used. The number of the visitors aborting or leaving the website midway without the website being fully downloaded gets drastically reduced. The visitors do not have to undergo bitter experiences when the web design is CSS based.

The evolution of the internet technologies especially the advent of smart phones in the market support the websites that are prepared with the help of CSS and not those designed with the help of tables.
