What To Do When Your Ipod Breaks
You're an iPod lover. You go to work with it, listen to it over lunch, take it to the gym, keep it on before bedtime and wake up only to do it all again. Just when you settle in and don't think you can go without your iPod for an extended period of time, what happens? Your iPod breaks, of course. We've become so dependent on the little gadgets to deliver our daily dose of musical and audio inspiration that we're not quite sure what to do with ourselves when they're gone. What can you do, get a Walkman?
First, you can check out "How to Live without Your iPod," which gives you some tips, but we'll flesh those out with a few suggestions of our own.
If your problem is listening to music, then you can temporarily satiate your music habit by plugging your headphones into your computer and using options like Pandora or even YouTube - free options that allow you to listen to about as much music as you want. No, you won't have your old iPod playlists to fall back on, but at least you'll be back into the steady stream of beats and talk radio podcasts.
If you were listening to an audio book that you ...
... absolutely don't want to miss out on, you might consider trying it out on CD or simply downloading it to your computer. No, you won't have the mobility on a computer that you'd have with an iPod, but at least it'd let you continue with the book with a relative sense of continuity. It can be hard to get back into an audio book if you've been without it too long, so this substitution may be your best option.
As for solving the problem of the broken iPod, you can take it to the Apple store and see what kind of options they'll have for you. If the only solution ends up being to buy another iPod, you might want to consider buying a used one on eBay for less money - just in case money is short. You might also consider trading one of your other pieces of property for someone else's iPod if they're done using it.
The point is simple: you don't have to let your iPod's failure get you to miss a beat. You can still listen to your songs and podcasts through iTunes on your computer, and if you go out and make it happen, you'll have a replacement or fixed iPod in no time.
