Queensland Home Builder Introduces New Compact Living Solution
When it comes to houses, bigger isn’t always better. As lots of land become smaller and smaller, particularly in the inner-city, builders and home owners alike have had to trade in their dreams of building castle-like homes and instead opt for smaller houses that fit on today’s compact lots.
The rise of the small lot might be good for sustainability and affordability, but not all builders have embraced it with a product range that’s designed to suit. Many other builders have floorplans that are just a little too wide, or worse, take up the whole lot with the house.
The Indigo Homes Indigo Compacts range was developed to address this increasing trend toward smaller lot homes. Indigo Compacts have been designed so living space inside can be maximised without sacrificing the living space outside.
In 2010, the Master Builders Association awarded Indigo Homes’ Caribbean 248 design the Small Lot Housing winner in the Brisbane region. Indigo Homes then decided to refine this design to make compact living easier for everyone.
At just 8.3m wide, the design ...
... of the Malibu 245 fits perfectly on the smallest inner-city blocks but it still packs a punch.
Designed with the whole family in mind, the Malibu 245 features a large master suite and entertaining area upstairs, perfect for when mum and dad have guests or just need a little peace and quiet. And the kids don’t miss out either, with three bedrooms and living area downstairs setting up the perfect kids retreat.
“The Malibu 245 keeps the kids and parents areas separate, which you don’t often find in small lot homes,” says Indigo Homes’ Garry Harrison.
“It has all the features of a larger home, and feels a lot bigger than it actually is.”
