Honda Motors was actually the first car maker to introduce electric and gasoline-powered cars in the US. However, they have failed to cope with the competition posed by other car makers in this division. As a matter of fact, Toyota’s Prius model was able to dominate the mainstream of the electric-gasoline cars and this model emerged as the most fuel-efficient compared to its rivals. Due to this, more hybrid car finders who want to purchase hybrid cars from Honda by using some of the company’s auto financing deals offered to its customers are currently searching for a vehicle model that could surpass the fuel-efficiency rating posted by the Prius and this prompted Honda to improve the system used for its hybrid vehicles.

As a result, Honda launched the redesigned Civic Hybrid last April 20. Their goal was to increase the sales of this particular hybrid model and attract every hybrid car finder in the US. In order to accomplish this goal, Honda has implemented some revisions on the ...
... Civic Hybrid. This includes the process of installing a lithium-ion battery pack on each Civic Hybrid so as to reduce its weight and save some space while intensifying the model’s fuel efficiency.

The utilization of lithium-ion batteries instead of using the previous nickel-metal hydride version is expected to provide the Civic Hybrid with a 44 mpg rating in city and highway driving. This new mpg rating will probably bet the former’s 40mpg in the city and 43mpg in the highway. However, this new strategy is still confronted by the price issue. The main reason for this is that the cost of the lithium-ion batteries installed on the newest version of Civic Hybrid is costly and would surely affect the vehicle’s sticker price. Given this, there is still a great possibility that the new Civic Hybrid would still trail behind Toyota’s Prius.

For further improvements of its hybrid vehicles, Honda will also implement a two-hybrid motor system to address the criticisms that the technology they are using is too weak most especially in providing extended power when their vehicles are running in electric mode. The two-hybrid motor system was designed to provide separate motors that would handle their vehicle’s need for power. The first motor would be providing the power for the car to move and the other would be charging its batteries.
