A Comparison Of The Exciting Htc Evo 3d And The Lg Optimus 3d
The LG Optimus 3D was officially the first 3D smartphone to be released, with a stereoscopic camera and 3D screen. HTC has responded with the HTC EVO 3D which is due for release shortly.
There are numerous reviews and articles which focus on the 3D aspects of these phones, but aside from this technology, what else do they have to offer? In this article I will take a closer look, and compare some of the non-3D key features of these handsets.
Screen
Both the HTC EVO 3D and the LG Optimus 3D offer similar screens; the size is 4.3 inches on each, and each utilises LCD capacitive touchscreen technology. The HTC EVO 3D does however have higher resolution than at 540x 960 compared to that of the LG Optimus 3D at 480x 800. These are just numbers though, and in reality, the screen on the LG Optimus 3D still provides an impressive experience, and great display quality.
Processor
One of the biggest draws of these two handsets is the fact that they both sport dual-core processors. This is one of the most significant breakthroughs in mobile phone technology of recent times. Providing improved performance ...
... and, more efficient multitasking among other benefits, they really make a positive difference to the user experience. The HTC EVO 3D comes with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor which is only slightly more powerful than the 1GHz dual-core offering found in the LG Optimus 3D.
Operating System
Both handsets run the impressive Android operating system. The HTC EVO 3D will ship with version 2.3 (aka Gingerbread), whilst the LG Optimus 3D comes with version 2.2 (aka Froyo), although this is upgradeable to later versions. The latter also utilises the LG 3D user interface, and the HTC EVO 3D has HTC Sense 3.0. These are both impressive and functional user interfaces, and it is really down to personal preference as to which is better. An advantage of the Android operating system is that it allows users of both handsets to download additional apps from the Android Market.
Internal Storage
The HTC EVO 3D comes with a useful 1GB of internal storage as standard, which is used for storing files such as music tracks and video clips, as well as apps which have been downloaded from the Android market. The LG Optimus 3D comes with a more substantial 8GB of internal storage. However both handsets have an integrated microSD card slot. This feature allows a memory card of up to 32GB to be installed, vastly increasing the potential storage capacity of each handset.
There is much more to the HTC EVO 3D and LG Optimus 3D than is mentioned in this article, not least the impressive and cutting edge 3D technology which sets these two handsets apart from rival smartphones. If you are looking to get your hands on a 3D smartphone, both of these make a great choice.
