Since the release of the LG Optimus 3D, the world’s first 3D smartphone, it was only a matter of time before competing companies started to offer handsets with this cutting edge technology. HTC are one of the first to respond with the HTC EVO 3D.

This phone is of very high specifications, and thanks to this its success looks assured upon its imminent release. In this article I will take a closer look at some of its main selling points.

3D Camera
Users have the option to take pictures and videos in both 2D and 3D. This is simply selected by selecting the right setting on the switch on the side of the handset. The camera has two 5 megapixel cameras on the back, to shoot in 3D. When taking a picture or shooting video footage, the main camera is used, but when doing so in 3D, the secondary camera is activated, allowing stereoscopic imaging to be carried out. This works by each camera focussing at a different distance. The resulting image is then displayed on the screen, essentially “tricking” the eye into thinking it is a 3D image. When shooting video footage, the HTC EVO 3D is capable of capturing full ...
... 1080p HD in 2D mode, or 720p HD in 3D mode, making for some impressive resulting video footage.

The 4.3 Inch Touchscreen
The HTC EVO 3D has a superb, and very large 3D S-LCD capacitive touchscreen. It allows images to display 3D images thanks to some very clever technology. Aside from this impressive feature, it remains as functional as you would expect from and HTC smartphone. Thanks to the presence of a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, response times of the screen are lightning fast, so even the most menial of tasks impresses. The screen also boasts a very high resolution; at 540x 960 it is one of the highest resolution screens of any phone on the market. The result of a resolution this high is superb display quality, with the utmost clarity and detail.

Of course the HTC EVO 3D offers much more than just 3D technology. It is a competent web browser, and has the latest Android software, along with a super powerful 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. HTC has released some of the most impressive recent smartphones. The HTC EVO 3D looks set to continue this trend. There are only a small number of 3D smartphones available, but this is definitely the best in my opinion.
