Every culture has its own way of celebrating a wedding. Similarly, attending a Persian wedding is an experience worth attending at least once in your life if not more if given the opportunity.
A Persian wedding is one which is a mixture of many old wedding customs and traditions which have existed since the time human civilization began. If you are not sure of what to expect then read on and find out what a Persian wedding has to offer!
Persian weddings usually have a large number of guests at their weddings. They use large crowds to be able to socialize with others and get to know more people. And of course, the more the merrier, right? Middles eastern traditions and Persians are very likely to invite their large and extended families to weddings. Some Persian weddings can actually end up having around 500 guests, so try not to fee lost in such a crowd!
Persian weddings are not like the traditional ...
... weddings you must have attended at some point in your life. These weddings can be seen as more of a night on the town. So make sure you wear your dancing shoes! Dancing is more a way of life for the Persians rather than something a part of their culture which is usually the case with many cultures. Their love for dancing is quite obvious from the way their weddings are conducted.
Just like every religion having their own culture, Persian weddings too have a religious part in their ceremony. This religious part consists of a sheet being held over the bride and groom who are usually sitting on a bench. Guests are then required to throw sugar on this sheet. This process is carried out in order to make sure that the couple has a ‘sweet’ marriage and a happy life together. Despite this taking place, the Muslim priest continues with the ceremony to bind the couple in holy matrimony.
People usually wear dark and classy attire to Persian weddings. The clothes make the happy moment look like it is a funeral, but it is the tradition of the Persians to wear dark clothing, preferably black. So next time you ever have to attend a Persian wedding, you will have the required information on it!
