There is a tendency, rather an unwritten rule, for people to start dieting as soon as they realize they have put on some weight. This is completely wrong. Starvation will not lead you anywhere. What you need to do is to follow a healthful diet plan, one that includes food items that give you all the nutrition your body requires.

Here are a few dieting tips:

1.Drink lots of water–Drinking large quantities of water if good because it helps to flush out the toxins from your body. People often confuse thirst with hunger. So, the next time you feel hungry just have a glass or two of water, and you will realize you were, in fact, thirsty; your craving will have vanished. If you do not like the plain taste of water, make it interesting by adding a dash of lemon or any other citrus fruit.

2.Focus on your food intake–Include 5-9 servings of fresh fruit and vegetables in your diet every day. So if you are not meeting this target, add them to your diet. By doing this you will also tend to overeat less and be able to control the size ...
... of your portions.

3.Understand your stomach–You need to understand the signals your stomach gives you when you sit down to eat. Often, while eating your favorite dish you tend to overeat. Your stomach gives you the signal that it is full, but you keep on eating and end up feeling bloated instead of satisfied and happy. Your stomach is just the size of your fist; so a handful of food is enough to satiate it.

4.Don’t avoid your favorite food completely– People believe that for weight loss one needs to give up on cakes, desserts, fried food etc. This is not true. Once you give up this food, it triggers rebound overeating. Instead of giving it up altogether you should learn to have less of it.

5.Eat several mini-meals instead of 2-3 main meals– Most people are in the habit of eating only breakfast, lunch, and dinner and some even tend to skip breakfast. Instead, try to have at least 7-8 mini-meals throughout the day at 2-3 hours intervals. This not only helps speed up your metabolism but also helps control appetite, your portions, and cravings.

6.Exercise– Exercise is as important as a healthy diet plan. You need to keep yourself physically active. Enjoy exercising; don’t take it as a means to punish yourself after you overeat. Remember, exercising and eating right food go hand in hand.

The above mentioned guidelines are effective weight loss tips that you must try in order to look stunning and feel healthy.
