Most car buyers are currently prioritizing vehicles with excellent safety features and impressive fuel consumption as they do their vehicle selection. This was probably brought about by the continuous increase on the prices of fuels used to power the vehicles as well as the continuous increase on the cost of maintaining car insurance policies. However, there are still a lot of vehicle models that new car finders could purchase without having to think about the issues of excessive fuel consumption and higher insurance premiums.

In case you are currently looking for a vehicle to purchase using a bad credit car loan and want to earn greater savings from fuel expenses and insurance payments you can check the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety list of vehicles that were proclaimed as Top Safety Pick awardees. This could be a good move since the IIHS has determined that almost all of the vehicles included on the top safety pick list were not only safe but also fuel-efficient.

Among the winners of the Top Safety Pick Award ...
... are the Ford Focus, Lexus CT200h, Nissan Juke, and the Hyundai Elantra. These vehicles were subjected to several crash test procedures to determine their strength and resilience in the event of collision. Among the crash tests conducted were focused on the strength of each vehicle’s front, rear, side, and roof portion. All of these earned the highest ratings which allowed them to make it to the top safety pick.

IIHS has been very strict in conducting safety tests on every car model especially on smaller cars that are considered to be less safe compared to the larger versions. However, this particular notion has subsequently changed since a lot of smaller cars were proven by the IIHS to be as safe as their larger counterparts.

As this observation becomes popular, the IIHS has also observed that smaller cars are also among the most fuel-efficient. Due to this, most car experts are starting to believe that more buyers would be encouraged to prioritize the purchase of smaller expensive and cheap new car models since they involve lesser insurance premiums and fuel expenses.
