Car safety is one of the most significant aspects considered by most car buyers in selecting a vehicle that they would purchase. This is the reason why US authorities such as the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) are subjecting every vehicle that are included on most car makers’ new car prices list to several crash testing procedures.

These crash tests simply ensure that every vehicle on the road has sufficient safety features to protect car occupants during collision and accidents. In connection to this, the Nissan Leaf has recently obtained one of the most important vehicle safety awards from a reputable safety testing institution which is the Euro NCAP or the IIHS counterpart in the Europe.

The crash test procedures conducted by the Euro NCAP on the Nissan Leaf which is an electric vehicle did not only prove that the Leaf is safe but confirmed that this EV is the safest non-conventional vehicle on the road. Euro NCAP has awarded the Nissan Leaf with the 5-star rating. This is the first time that the agency has awarded the ...
... 5-star rating to an electric vehicle since they had been rating other expensive and cheap new car models powered by gas engines.

Nissan Leaf’s safety award was brought about by the car’s impressive ratings in every test conducted by the agency. The Leaf received an 89 percent rating in terms of adult safety and 83 percent in child protection. In addition to this, the vehicle has also garnered the 84 percent rating when it comes to the on-board safety assist system brought about by its features such as the system for Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and the speed limiter.

Due to this, Nissan expects that the award would help boost the Leaf’s sales not only in Europe but also in other areas such as the US. This could also help in Nissan’s promotional strategies to promote the Leaf aside from providing better auto financing options to its customers. Finally, Nissan hopes that the Leaf would also receive the same safety ratings from the IIHS since American car buyers prefer to purchase vehicles with dependable safety features.
