I used to swear by cotton clothes in summer, used to being the key word here, and then I discovered linen. Extracted from the flax plant this material is the ultimate in summer wear. It keeps you cool, comes in the most beautiful summery shades and the best part, gets even more comfortable with use. Now if you thought that linen comes in dull and boring earthy shades only then think again. The latest fashion season of summer 2011 has revealed that linen is trending in bold colours. Yes, the latest in linen is bold, vibrant and beautiful. Colours like, vibrant tomato red, turquoise, tropical blue; a classic red; and aurora, a slightly greenish yellow are trending this season. These likely will end up being popular linen colors as well. The other day I saw a beautiful navy blue and rust dress in linen. Really smart, chic and one of its kind. Dressed in that I can just about imagine what it will mean to turn from a plain Jane to a fashionista who will turn heads.
In men’s fashion though, the dyes are naturally limited to black, and blue at the most. But if you ask me honestly, nothing really beats the natural beige of linen. ...
... Not only does it scream summer and cool, it really looks suave when worn. And then there is the really soft grey, that somehow just comes alive in linen. Never knew that grey could be a summer colour till I saw it in linen.
Linen as a fabric has been trending for some time now, and manufacturers have now sat up and taken serious note of this fabric. Every brand has come up with its separate line of linen clothing. Each one is flaunting their collection as the latest in linen and each one is quickly reading the pulse of the market to do even better. Designs, colours and patterns are getting replaced regularly. If you saw something in the store a week back, does not mean it will still be in display today. Such is the growth in demand of this fabric, such is the essence of this trend that everyone is jumping the bandwagon. And for once, I really don’t mind being in there either.
