If your child goes to an out of area school or a rehab center, you'll probably be called in for some family sessions to work through issues that your teen brings up at the facility. Each facility has their own visitation schedule and some will have the teen wait a few weeks before seeing anyone outside of the center.

It is very hard for a teenager to think of dropping certain friends, but this often is an important step for recovery. To expect a kid to resist temptations when his friends are involved with drinking or drugs on weekend evenings takes a lot of self-control.
