Movenpick Open Second Property In Phuket, Thailand
Swiss hotel operator Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of their second property in Phuket, Thailand; Mövenpick Residences Bangtao Beach Phuket.
The resort was formerly known as The Palm Beach Club and is located on Bang Tao Beach on the West Coast of Phuket.
According to a Mövenpick spokesperson, the company will take over management of the Palm Beach Club and rebrand it as Mövenpick Residences Bangtao Beach Phuket with immediate effect.
The resort has thirty nine suites and penthouses. A small number of units have a private swimming pool or a Jacuzzi. On-site facilities include a large communal swimming pool, restaurant, fitness centre and spa.
"We will build on the success of the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Karon Beach Phuket and extend the same gracious Thai hospitality to ensure our guests enjoy a memorable holiday at our resort,” commented Hansruedi Frutiger, the resort’s new General Manager.
“We are pleased to have the opportunity to operate this exclusive retreat and to expand our presence in Thailand,” said Andreas Mattmüller, Chief Operating Officer ...
... of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts for the Middle East and Asia.
“We have plans to increase our portfolio in the country and to operate six hotels in Thailand by 2014,” Mattmüller added.
Mövenpick first ventured into Phuket, Thailand in 2006 when they took over operation of the Crowne Plaza Phuket at Karon Beach.
Since then Mövenpick has continued to expand throughout Asia. In April this year the company opened two new hotels; the Mövenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa in Singapore and the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Cebu in the Philippines. More properties are planned in China, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India and Vietnam.
Mövenpick currently operate sixty nine hotels in twenty six different countries. Nineteen new properties are also under construction.
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is owned by the Mövenpick Group and Kingdom Hotel Investments, based in Dubai.
Mövenpick Group was founded in Switzerland in 1948 by Ueli Prager. The company describes itself as a structured holding company with four independent business units: Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, Marché International and Mövenpick Restaurants, Mövenpick Wine and Mövenpick Fine Foods.
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts was founded in 1973. In the same year the company opened its first two hotels at Zurich Airport and Regensdorf, a small town in the district of Dielsdorf, Zurich.
