Bad breath is known as halitosis. This causes embarrassment and it can also lead to anxiety. This is one of the reasons why the oral care industry is full of mints, mouthwashes as well as other products. However, the problem cannot be fixed by ordinary measures like these. To address these issues, you have to know what causes of bad breath. You have to be aware that there are a number of factors that can contribute to bad breath. It is important to ensure that you ask the help of a doctor if you have conditions just like these in order to effectively address the issue.
Foods:
One of the causes of bad breath is food. There are some foods that when broken down to smaller particles, get stuck on your teeth and it releases foul odors ...
... that can result to halitosis. The best known examples of bad breath inducing foods are garlic and onions. Aside from these, there are also certain kinds of vegetables as well as spices that can cause bad breath. These foods will normally have oils that can get absorbed into the blood and then they are carried into the respiratory area and they are excreted through our mouth. The effect of food is not permanent and it can last until the food is eliminated from the body.
Dental Issues:
Your oral health can be one of the causes of bad breath. If you have poor hygiene and if you have gum problems, these things could result to bad breath. It is necessary that you always floss and brush your teeth regularly because food particles tend to stay in the teeth area and these can lead to the collection of odor causing organisms releasing hydrogen sulfide that is equivalent to the smell or rotten eggs. Plaque can lead to tooth decay and periodontitis. If you do not take good care of your teeth and oral cavities, you will suffer great consequences.
Diseases:
Though these only constitute a tenth of the total causes of bad breath, diseases can be possible suspects. These could be caused by diabetes, chronic acid reflux, liver and kidney failure as well as other problems. The smell can be very much acidic to fishy depending on the kind of problem that you have. Stomach ulcers can also lead to such problems. It is necessary to understand the causes since these could be signs of impending health risks or simply bad hygiene.
