10 FREE resources that will help put your eBook on the best seller's list. They worked for me!
Is Your Favorite Position On Top? Put Your eBook on the Best Seller's List for FREE By Cathi Stevenson My eBook made the best sellers' list on the publisher's web site within a few months of its release and I invested very little money getting it to this position. The internet is full of free resources that eBook authors can use to promote themselves and increase sales. The most effective FREE marketing tools I have found are: 1. Start a newsletter. This can be accomplished for free at http://www.topica.com. Give something away to anyone who signs up; it can be sample chapters of your book, recipes, a collection of URLs that may interest your readers, etc. I give away eBook cover templates. Once you've created your format and have the first issue ready to send, you'll need to visit all the free listing sites you can find for eZines and get yours listed. 2. List your eBook on every free eBook listing site you can find. Every month I list a few different sites authors can ...
... submit to in my own eZine, you can read the issues online at: http://www.authorscafe.com. 3. Book Cover Graphic. Make sure you have an effective eBook cover graphic. It doesn't have to be fancy (black and white is fine if it is done properly), but it should be easy to read and bring attention to your book. Submit that graphic everywhere you can when promoting your book. You can make it in Microsoft Word, or download a free graphics' program like PaintShopPro (30 day free trial of fully functional program available at: http://www.jasc.com). If you're going to put a graphic on your book's cover, make sure you have permission to use it commercially. 4. Trade ads. Once your eZine is up and running you can trade ads with other eZine owners. 5. Write articles. Brand yourself by giving away articles you've written. Go to any search engine and type in free eZine content or free articles and search through the results until you find ones where you can submit your genre of article. Make absolutely certain you retain all copyrights to your material. 6. Signature line. Almost every eMail program allows you to include a signature line, even free ones like Yahoo!. Make sure you have the name of your book and URL for your eZine on all your outgoing mail. Avoid being too wordy, or including the graphic here though, so people receiving eMail from you don't feel like they're getting a promo sheet. 7. Give away sample chapters of your book from your site. Make a mini version of your eBook, or offer a few chapters in PDF (you can convert a document to PDF for free at: http:.//www.adobe.com) 8. Offer your book as a prize. Several popular eZines offer promotional prizes each month and are always grateful to accept donations. You can also do this in your own eZine or off your web site. 9. Look professional. Make sure your web site is not full of other people's pop up ads, or has a long URL that shouts I'm a freebie. You can register a .com for less than $10 at http://www.registerfly.com or http://www.godaddy.com. You can find web space for as little as $1.50 per month at: http://www.2mhost.com or visit http://www.hostpile.com and compare a variety of web hosting services. 10. Answer your eMail. Most people have experienced the notorious after sale snub at one time or another, and it leaves a bad impression. If someone has purchased your book and writes you, always politely acknowledge the eMail. Not only is it good PR, it might result in a sale for your next eBook.
