How To Write A Dissertation Or Thesis In 7 Simple Steps?
A dissertation or thesis is not just an ordinary assignment. It is much more than that. Its purpose is to conduct an original research on a particular topic and to interpret the findings. To put it another way, thesis is a lengthy, formal document that argues in defense of a particular topic on the basis of the research data collected. In some countries, thesis writing is an essential for their bachelors degree while in other countries it comes at a more advanced level like the masters or the doctorate. A thesis can be written in any field of education be it mathematics or social science.
What does it consist of?
It typically consists of:
Title page
Abstract
Introduction of the topic
Hypothesis that will be used for testing
Methodology of the research
Interpretation
Conclusion of the findings
Dos and Do nots:
1.The grammar of the language, the sentence structuring and the spellings must always be proper.
2.No slang words should be used and the sentence structuring should be in present tense.
3.The conclusion or the findings of the ...
... thesis should not be interpreted with sentences starting with the words hopefully or maybe. The whole point is that the research is backed with evidence and proofs leaving no room for assumptions or uncertainty.
4.Generally, every statement in the thesis is supported by a published reference to verify its authenticity.
7 Simple Steps of Dissertation Writing:
Step 1: The first step is to choose the topic of your interest or the field that you are required to write the thesis or dissertation in.
Step 2: The next step is to develop the objectives of your research. Here, you will mention why conducting this research is important and how it will benefit the reader.
Step 3: After the objective of the research is made, a hypothesis is developed. This hypothesis serves as a proposition of your observation. The fact that, at the end of your thesis, your hypothesis may prove to be right or wrong does not matter.
Step 4: The next step is to decide on the methodology of the research. There are a number of ways the research can be conducted but the most popular way to conduct the research is to collect the data through questionnaires that are filled by the targeted audience.
Step 5: After the questionnaires have been filled, the data received from the questionnaires is then compiled and analyzed. Several softwares are available for the same. SPSS is one such software that is used to make data analysis for the thesis.
Step 6: After the results have been gathered, they are interpreted. The interpretation is the overview of the results that have been gathered to write dissertations. It should not be biased. The focus should be on the result not the people or the circumstances.
Step 7: The last step is to conclude. A conclusion is one is own view on the results and an explanation on how the thesis will be beneficial for the reader.
By following these simple steps, compiling thesis should not be a difficult task.
