Gone are the times when the shirt was a sign of wealth and social standing. Now, available in a plethora of styles, fits and sizes, the shirt has quickly become essential modern wear for everybody. When buying a men's shirt it's the details you need to look at, and while the style of collar, yoke, sleeves and tails will mostly be down to personal preference and the requirements of the social engagements you intend to attend, when it comes to what the material is made from, it's difficult to recommend anything other than cotton.

A cotton shirt will always trump anything made from man-made fibres. Cotton shirts are breathable, light, durable and rich in colour. The only negative with a 100% cotton shirt – and this is really pushing what counts as negative – is that they can be somewhat more difficult to iron than a synthetic shirt. However, the good news here is that at Savile Row, many of our shirts are available with an easy-iron finish, which takes nothing away from the quality and look of the shirt and leaves you with far more time on Sunday evenings to lament the inevitable arrival of Monday morning.

The ...
... secret to looking smart is to make sure that your shirt fits you properly, yet leaves enough room for you to get on with your work without restriction. All too often we spot people wearing shirts that are far too baggy and misshapen, and as you can image, as tailors with a real passion for shirt making, this upsets us a great deal!

This is why we have taken the time to really think about how our sizes fit, and why we’re confident that you will find or shirts snug, smart yet airy.

Savile Row offers a range of style options to suit any man. For example, our formal shirts come with a classic Windsor collar; a stiff, wide number that leaves room for a Winsor knot tie. Our casual shirts, however, which have a looser fit and are much more suitable for wearing sans tie, tend to come with a button-down collar, offering a neat and practical look.

We also have a vast selection of different colours and patterns. From crisp whites for the most formal of occasions to dark blocks of imposing colour; to light charcoal greys, eye-popping yellows and dreamy sky blues to casual checks perfectly suited to fresh October afternoons in the pub; the only constant is our quality, versatility and smartness.
