The Optimus Black is one of three new Optimus Android phones from LG alongside the 2X and the 3D. One the face of it the Black is the lesser of the three devices as the other two phones garnered a lot of attention by introducing new features to the mobile phone industry. The 2X ushered in the age of the dual core smartphone and the Optimus 3D will be the first phone to come with a 3D screen. However, the Black may not offer any new groundbreaking features like its Optimus siblings but it is arguably the better of the three devices.

The Optimus 2X did not live up to the speeds that people had imagined and 3D screens are still something that many people are unsure about. Because of this, the Optimus Black is the ideal phone for anyone looking for an Android smartphone with the reliable build quality that LG has to offer. Like the other Optimus phones the Black runs on Android Froyo and will be updated to Android Gingerbread in the near future. This is coupled with LG's interface that provides excellent social networking support and access to Android Market.

With Android Market you can download many fantastic apps ...
... and games to make this phone even more enjoyable. There are already many that come included with the Optimus Black including many fantastic Google features like Google Maps, Gmail and Google Talk. There is of course excellent YouTube support making this Optimus phone a great device for watching streaming videos.

This is also the case due to the Optimus Black's gorgeous 4" LCD screen which is the first phone screen to make use of the new NOVA screen technology from LG. NOVA provides the Black with an unparalleled level of brightness and means that the phone screen is more ideally suited to all forms of lighting conditions that are usually not well catered for by competing phone screens. Despite the extra brightness the NOVA screen also consumes 50% less battery power than competing AMOLED screens.

The Optimus Black comes with great 3G connections as well as Wi-Fi with support for DLNA and Wi-Fi Direct. While these make the Black an excellent phone for general web browsing they also allow you to connect the Black to other wireless devices with far great ease. This may include connecting the phone to your home television so that you can enjoy video content contained on the device through a larger screen.

The Optimus Black also features a really great camera in the form of a 5 megapixel snapper with LED flash and 720p video recording. Photos and videos that you produce on this camera needn't remain locked on your phone as you can upload them to websites like Facebook and Picasa to share with your friends.

The Optimus Black is an excellent all round Android phone with great messaging and entertainment features. It is one of the thinnest phones on the market, being thinner even than the iPhone 4, and has a very stylish black appearance to it (hence the name, obviously). While it may not be dual core or have a 3D screen like the other Optimus phones this is certainly one of the best performing Android smartphones to be released in recent months.

At Best Mobile Contracts we compare LG Optimus Black deals from all the major online retailers. So if you are looking for a LG Optimus 2X contract on Vodafone, Orange, O2, T-Mobile, 3 or Virgin Mobile, we are sure that we can help.
