A historic mining town, Park City, Utah is located about 30 minutes from Salt Lake City. Once the site of lucrative gold, silver, and lead mines, Park City started to decline after World War II. In an effort to forgo becoming a ghost town, the miners suggested that the area be redeveloped into a ski resort area. Treasure Mountain was the first ski resort to open in 1963. Today, Park City is an impressive tourist destination, with over 600,000 people visiting each year.

There are three major resorts in the area, which are often referred to as the Deer Valley resorts. During the winter, the 9,000 miles of runs are full of skiers and snowboarders, with snowmobile and snowshoe paths. This was the site of the 2002 Winter Olympics, as well. However, the summer season is just as busy with tourists who come in search of gorgeous hiking and biking trails, fantastic fly fishing opportunities, and wonderful hot springs.
